Installing And Updating Software Is Easy In Mandriva Linux (aka Mandrake Linux)

Mandriva's Software Management tools make Installing and removing software easy, simple, and efficient. And that helps to make Mandriva Linux a good desktop Linux.

Mike Angelo -- 17 October 2005 (C) -- Page 3

That's enough for today. There are other ways to install and remove software to and from your Mandriva Linux system, such as URPMI. Mandriva has added the SMART package manager tool in Mandriva 2006. And there still are the Mandrakelinux Update and Update Media screens of the MCC Software Management tab that were not discussed above. But all that will have to be discussed another day.

Today you did get a good overview of installing and removing software to and from a Mandriva Linux system using the MCC Software Management tab -- with a little bit of tutorial and how-to thrown in.

Mandriva's Software Management tools make Installing and removing software easy, simple, and efficient. And that helps to make Mandriva Linux a good desktop Linux.

A good place to get real-time help with installing and removing software on a Mandriva Linux system is in the #Mandriva channel on EFNet IRC. There is a link to it in the Resources section at the end of this article. You also will find a link there to a list of Mandriva FTP mirror sites.

Most of the book links listed below lead you to Web pages about the books that also, there, have links to things such as Tables of Contents and sample chapters. The sample chapters are free and well worth reading.
